Optical Sum Rule in Finite Bands [PDF]
In a single finite electronic band the total optical spectral weight or optical sum carries information on the interactions involved between the charge carriers as well as on their band structure. It varies with temperature as well as with impurity scattering. The single band optical sum also bears some relationship to the charge carrier kinetic energy

Comprehensive cancer centre (CCCs) and CCCs of Excellence (CCCoE) integration in healthcare. Through outreach to surrounding community hospitals, CCCs enable wider access to top‐clinical cancer treatments and care, thereby facilitating the swift enrolment of patients into data‐rich clinical trials (PI‐initiated trials testing new concepts, drug ...

Optically-detected spin-echo method for relaxation times measurements in a Rb atomic vapor
We introduce and demonstrate an experimental method, optically-detected spin-echo (ODSE), to measure ground-state relaxation times of a rubidium (Rb) atomic vapor held in a glass cell with buffer-gas.

Recent Developments in Understanding Two-dimensional Turbulence and the Nastrom-Gage Spectrum [PDF]
Two-dimensional turbulence appears to be a more formidable problem than three-dimensional turbulence despite the numerical advantage of working with one less dimension. In the present paper we review recent numerical investigations of the phenomenology of two-dimensional turbulence as well as recent theoretical breakthroughs by various leading ...

Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.

Boundaries of photosynthesis: adaptations of carbon fixation in extreme environments
Photosynthesis faces challenges from environmental extremes of temperature, pH, and salinity, limiting gas diffusion, modifying membrane fluidity, and destabilizing photochemical and biochemical reactions. Photosynthetic organisms have evolved unique adaptations overcoming these stresses and maintaining their photosynthetic activity.

Microwave-induced magnetooscillations and absolute negative conductivity in the multisubband two-dimensional electron system on liquid helium [PDF]
It is shown that a nonequilibrium filling of an upper surface subband induced by the microwave resonance can be the origin of the absolute negative conductivity and zero-resistance states for the two-dimensional electron system on liquid helium under magnetic field applied normally.
