Value of combining transect counts and telemetry data to determine short‐term population trends in a globally threatened species

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 6, December 2023., 2023
Abstract To evaluate conservation interventions, it is necessary to obtain reliable population trends for short (<10 years) time scales. Telemetry can be used to estimate short‐term survival rates and is a common tool for assessing population trends, but it has limitations and can be biased toward specific behavioral traits of tagged individuals ...

Unravelling the historical biogeography of the European rabbit subspecies in the Iberian Peninsula

open access: yesMammal Review, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 1-14, January 2023., 2023

Acorn caching hotspots of the Eurasian jay in pine plantations: Ecological basis for understorey management to assist oak regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 8, August 2026.
Our findings show that Eurasian jay dispersal activity depends on specific understorey structures when selecting caching microsites—particularly shrub cover and standing pines. These features could be directly shaped by management to promote assisted natural oak regeneration.
