Use of a Previously Repaired Tendon for Tendon Transfer
Journal of Hand Surgery, 1987A patient in whom a previously repaired flexor digitorum superficialis tendon was used for transfer to correct a claw deformity is described. I have found this to be possible under optimal conditions of tendon repair, thus providing the hand surgeon with another choice of donor material.

Atraumatic tendon handling during tendon repair
International Orthopaedics, 1996Two techniques are presented for atraumatic handling of tendon ends during repair of flexor and extensor tendons. If the tendon is cleanly transected, the suture is carried out by holding the tendon in nerve holding forceps. If debridement is needed, a slice is partly cut and used to handle the tendon; the slice is then cut off and discarded.

A Review of Repaired Flexor Tendons
Journal of Hand Surgery, 198767 patients with 176 repaired flexor tendons have been reviewed after a mean interval of 26.4 months. 160 tendons to 100 fingers, and 16 flexor pollicis longus tendons were repaired. When evaluated by Buck-Gramcko criteria, the functional results in 92% of the fingers and 69% of the thumbs were graded as excellent or good.
