Identification and Functional Characterization of Isoflavone synthase Gene Family in Pea (Pisum sativum): The Entry Point to Pisatin Biosynthesis

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Isoflavone synthase (IFS), a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase of the CYP93C subfamily, catalyzes the conversion of flavanones into isoflavones, the first committed step in the biosynthesis of isoflavonoid phytoalexins. In pea (Pisum sativum L.), the phytoalexin pisatin plays a pivotal role in defense against pathogens.

A plant tendril mimic soft actuator with phototunable bending and chiral twisting motion modes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Plant tendrils are able to undergo both bending and chiral twisting motions but unfortunately synthetic mimics are unable to do this. Here the authors show a dual-layer polysiloxane-based liquid crystal soft actuator capable of two different 3D ...

MORPHOLOGICAL AND ANATOMICAL STUDY OF THE FOOTSTALK AND OF THE BUDS OF CÓRNUS MAS L. OF CORNEL FAMILY (CORNACEAE DUMORT.)

open access: yesФармация и фармакология (Пятигорск), 2015
Decoctions of fruits, leaves, and also tendrils, roots and bark of the footstalk of the Сornus mas are used in traditional medicine. The purpose of this work is a study of morphological and anatomical signs of a footstalk and the buds of the Сornus mas ...

Holographic vortices in the presence of dark matter sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The {\it dark matter} seem to be an inevitable ingredient of the total matter configuration in the Universe and the knowledge how the {\it dark matter} affects the properties of superconductors is of vital importance for the experiments aimed at its ...

Grasping the Wispy Tendrils [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 1997
AbstractThe vast quantities of data produced by modern radio telescopes require advanced visualisation tools to explore them. The quantitative nature of astronomy requires more than just representing data visually. This paper discusses research in displaying, and using, a three-dimensional ‘cursor’ in amorphous, noisy data which often resemble wispy ...

Efficacy evaluation of pneumatic solid set canopy delivery system to control powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator) in Washington vineyards

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 4815-4828, May 2026.
The findings of this study indicate that powdery mildew control achieved with the pneumatic solid set canopy delivery system (PSD‐SSCDS) was comparable with that of a conventional airblast sprayer. These results highlight the PSD‐SSCDS as a promising alternative spray technology. Abstract BACKGROUND In this study, a previously optimized pneumatic spray

Structural transition from helices to hemihelices. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Helices are amongst the most common structures in nature and in some cases, such as tethered plant tendrils, a more complex but related shape, the hemihelix forms.

Plastid and nuclear phylogenomics of Cyphostemma (Vitaceae) provide new insights into genome size evolution across sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 5, Page 1399-1420, May 2026.
Some African Cyphostemma species evolved much larger genomes as they adapted to dry, rocky habitats. These expansions are linked to succulent traits and specialization on nutrient‐rich limestone outcrops. The findings show how climate‐driven aridification shaped plant evolution and highlight broader genome‐environment patterns across flowering plants ...

Machine Learning‐Driven Construction of High‐Yielding Cucumber Plant Architectures in Greenhouse Environments

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 2917-2938, May 2026.
Schematic summary of the machine learning‐driven analysis for high‐yield cucumber architecture. This study employs machine learning methods to analyze key shoot and root traits, building a predictive model for yield. The analysis identifies an optimal plant architecture: a compact and sturdy shoot structure, combined with a narrow yet larger‐diameter ...
