Proof of Concept of Integrated Load Measurement in 3D Printed Structures
Currently, research on structural health monitoring systems is focused on direct integration of the system into a component or structure. The latter results in a so-called smart structure.

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

The Effects of Transient Temperature around Welds on Mechanical Properties of A36 Steel Plate
There are various ways for welding experts to improve their production quality, and one of which is by designing a particular type of welding tool. Besides aiming to replace the function of operator’s body parts, the tool is also able to control buckling

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Graded Grain Structure to Improve Hydrogen-Embrittlement Resistance of TWIP Steel
The high strength of twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steels makes them vulnerable to the hydrogen embrittlement (HE) phenomenon, thereby limiting their potential applications.

In this work, we use the treated PF-ADF(2 ∼ 3 mm) as the reinforcing body(fiber) and the biodegradable PBS as the matrix. The different treated PF-ADF were mixed with PBS particles according to the mass percentage of 20:80, and C-PBS, C-DF/PBS, C-ADF/PBS
