Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

Fibers of newly developed refractory ceramics produced by improved process [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Rods of refractory ceramic material and glasses having relatively high fusion temperatures and tensile strengths are converted to fiber by subjecting these rods to alternate fusion and gas-jet bursts. The refractory, high tensile strength fibers produced

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Weldability Characteristics of Sintered Hot-Forged AISI 4135 Steel Produced through P/M Route by Using Pulsed Current Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2016
Present investigation is an attempt to study the weldability characteristics of sintered hot-forged plates of AISI 4135 steel produced through powder metallurgy (P/M) route using matching filler materials of ER80S B2.

Tensile properties of polypropylene fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
As soon as it appeared on the market, half a century ago, polypropylene appeared as a promising fiber-forming polymer but with some difficulties in processing due to a lack of control of its viscoelastic properties and in durability due to its low stability to oxidation.

Polystyrene cryostat facilitates testing tensile specimens under liquid nitrogen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Lightweight cryostat made of expanded polystyrene reduces eccentricity in a tensile system being tested under liquid nitrogen. The cryostat is attached directly to the tensile system by a special seal, reducing misalignment effects due to cryostat weight,

Ideal strengths and bonding properties of PuO2 under tension

open access: yes, 2010
We perform a first-principles computational tensile test on PuO$_{2}$ based on density-functional theory within local density approximation (LDA)+\emph{U} formalism to investigate its structural, mechanical, magnetic, and intrinsic bonding properties in ...

Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Multi-response Characteristics Optimization of a Paper-based Composite using Taguchi Method and Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Industri, 2020
Our dependency towards wood has reduced the number of forests especially in Indonesia. Hence, many people tried to use another material as a replacement of wood. One of them is composite. Department of Industrial Engineering Universitas Sebelas Maret has
