Structure-tensile properties of polyurethanes

European Polymer Journal, 1997
Abstract A series of hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene-(HTPB) based polyurethanes (PUs) were synthesized by solution polymerization with different types of diisocyanates, hard segment contents, NCO OH ratio and polymerization methods. Spectroscopic and stress-strain studies were carried out to elucidate the structure-property relationships ...

Tensile properties of ultradrawn polyethylene

Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Physics Edition, 1975
AbstractHigh‐density polyethylene filaments prepared by a solid‐state deformation in an Instron capillary rheometer show unusually high crystal orientation, chain extension, axial modulus, and ultimate tensile strength. The Young's modulus and ultimate tensile strength have been determined from stress–strain curves.

Tensile Properties of Hair

2013
A brief discussion of the fundamental elements of hair structure of hair and their interplay with absorbed water is followed by an informative review of elastic properties of hair as revealed by the longitudinal stress measurements. Evaluation of tensile properties of hair focuses on the measurement techniques and their utility in assessing hair ...

Tensile properties of jute fibres

Materials Science and Technology, 2009
One hundred tensile tests were undertaken at each of five distinct fibre lengths (6, 10, 20, 30 and 50 mm) on a single batch of jute fibres from South Asia. The Young's moduli were found to be independent of length. The ultimate stress (fracture strength) and fracture strains were found to decrease with increasing fibre length.

Tensile impact properties of thermoplastics

Polymer Engineering & Science, 1964
AbstractThe impact strength of a thermoplastic is shown to be a strong function of several variables. Among these are type of molding, molding conditions, molecular orientation, test temperature, and notches. Particularly significant is a maximum in the response of impact strength to molding temperature.

Tensile properties of Zircaloy-4

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1977
Abstract Results on the tensile properties of annealed rods and sheets of Zircaloy-4 are given, between room temperature and approximately 900 K. It is shown that the data are strongly influenced by the heating rate and the holding time of the specimens at the test temperature, so that the yield stress-temperature curves reported in the literature ...

Tensile properties of LIGA nickel

SPIE Proceedings, 1998
This paper presents the results and conclusions from tensile tests performed on four lots of microtensile specimens produced by the LIGA method. The specimens tested are 3 millimeters long, 0.2 millimeters wide and 0.2 millimeters thick. The specimen is held in specially designed grips, and friction is eliminated by the use of a linear air bearing in ...
