Tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) in the United Kingdom

Four hundred and twenty-six surgeons identified as performing TVT in the United Kingdom in the year ended 1 January 2002 were sent a postal questionnaire to identify the technique employed and the complications encountered. An 81% response rate was achieved. Over 7000 TVT operations were reported.

Bladder perforation: A missed diagnosis posttransobturator tape

The advent of transobturator tape (TOT) in 2001 reduced the risk of bladder perforation to 1% in TOT as compared to 5% in tension-free vaginal tape (TVT). We present a case of bladder perforation in TOT where the diagnosis was missed for 5 years.
