Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Separable injectivity and C*-tensor products

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1991
Let A and B be C*-algebras and let D be a C*-subalgebra of B. We show that if D is separably injective then the triple (A,B,D) verifies the slice map conjecture. As an application, we prove that the minimal C*-tensor product A⊗B is separably injective if

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Efficient Tensor Robust Principal Analysis via Right-Invertible Matrix-Based Tensor Products

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we extend the definition of tensor products from using an invertible matrix to utilising right-invertible matrices, exploring the algebraic properties of these new tensor products.

Distinguished Property in Tensor Products and Weak* Dual Spaces

open access: yesAxioms, 2021
A local convex space E is said to be distinguished if its strong dual Eβ′ has the topology β(E′,(Eβ′)′), i.e., if Eβ′ is barrelled. The distinguished property of the local convex space CpX of real-valued functions on a Tychonoff space X, equipped with ...

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

*-g-frames in tensor products of Hilbert C*-modules

open access: yesAnnales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis: Studia Mathematica, 2018
In this paper, we study *-g-frames in tensor products of Hilbert C*-modules. We show that a tensor product of two *-g-frames is a *-g-frame, and we get some result.
