Unravelling upbuilding pedogenesis in tephra and loess sequences in New Zealand using tephrochronology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The genesis of soils developed in either tephra or loess on stable sites differs markedly from that of soils developed on rock because classical topdown processes operate in conjuction with geological processes whereby material is added to the land ...

University of Waikato radiocarbon dates I [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
This date list reports on samples submitted by University of Waikato researchers and assayed in the Waikato laboratory mainly between 1979 and 1985. Most dates reported here relate to the deposition of distal airfall tephras in lakes and peats in central

Advances in Quaternary tephrostratigraphy and tephrochronology in New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper summarises recent studies on Quaternary tephra deposits in New Zealand, and refers to a range of tephrochronological applications including sequence stratigraphy, palaeoclimatic reconstruction, and archaeology.

Explosive volcanic activity in Central-Southern Italy during Middle Pleistocene: A tale from tephra layers of the Acerno basin

open access: yesQuaternary Science Advances
The cored succession of the Acerno basin, a tectonic palaeolake located in the southern Apennines (Italy), represents a key point of the Italian tephrostratigraphic network for the Quaternary.

Téphrostratigraphie du Quaternaire en Belgique [Quaternary tephrostratigraphy in Belgium]

open access: yesGeologica Belgica, 2000
The main characteristics of Quaternary volcanic ash-falls found in various terrains of Belgium are put together. An exhaustive list of papers dealing with Quaternary tephrostratigraphy in Belgium is presented in an appendix.

Synchronisation of sedimentary records using tephra : a postglacial tephrochronological model for the Chilean Lake District [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Well-characterised tephra horizons deposited in various sedimentary environments provide a means of synchronising sedimentary archives. The use of tephra as a chronological tool is however still widely underutilised in southern Chile and Argentina.

Holocene Tephrostratigraphy, Southern Kenai Peninsula, Lower Cook Inlet, Alaska

open access: yes, 2000
This thesis describes the results of a study of 33 tephra layers found within two peat sections near Anchor Point and Homer, Alaska, on the lower Kenai Peninsula. Numerous lower Cook Inlet volcanoes have been active through the Holocene. Tephra layers found at these two sites provide a partial record of their eruptive activity.

Possible earthquake trigger for 6th century mass wasting deposit at Lake Ohrid (Macedonia/Albania) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Lake Ohrid shared by the Republics of Albania and Macedonia is formed by a tectonically active graben within the south Balkans and suggested to be the oldest lake in Europe. Several studies have shown that the lake provides a valuable record of climatic
