Narrow-band Band-pass Filters for Terahertz Applications

2021 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS), 2021
In this work, a WR-1.5 band-pass filter is presented, manufactured using the Polystrata 3D fabrication process. The filter is intended to be integrated into a radiometric receiver to band limit the incoming noise power and encompass an atmospheric spectral window centered at 682.5 GHz.

Terahertz dual-band resonator on silicon

Optics Letters, 2010
We have designed and fabricated a dual-band resonator in the terahertz frequency range on high-resistivity silicon. The device is designed to show resonances at 2.6 and 4.3 THz using the finite-difference time-domain modeling method. The characteristics of the fabricated device have been examined by using a Fourier-transform IR spectrometer.

Photonic-wireless Communication and Sensing in the Terahertz Band

2023 Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC), 2023
This paper reviews the potential of THz photonics in communication and sensing by presenting our experimental results in the 300-500 GHz. Benefiting from the large available bandwidth in both THz and photonics, THz communications with high speed and THz imaging with high resolution have been achieved.

Terahertz band Bragg reflectors

2008 33rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves, 2008
A planar narrow band Bragg reflector based on coupling of propagating and quasi-cutoff modes is considered. Coupled waves analysis together with direct numerical simulations demonstrate the operability of novel scheme up to THz frequency band.

Modulation of a dual-band metamaterial absorber in the terahertz band

Physica Scripta, 2020
Abstract In this paper, a tunable metamaterials absorber with Dirac semimetals and VO 2 strips is present in the Terahertz (THz) range. At room temperature, two absorption peaks are revealed at resonance frequencies 10.1 THz (76% amplitude) and 20.3 THz (60% amplitude ...

Exploiting the Terahertz Band for Radionavigation

Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2016
This paper demonstrates the feasibility of GPS-like ranging at terahertz (THz) frequencies. It is well established that GPS carrier signals are vulnerable to jamming via radio-frequency interference (RFI). As a result, there is a need for alternative radionavigation systems. THz signals offer a compelling option.

Optimizing Energy Consumption in Terahertz Band Nanonetworks

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2014
In this paper, we develop a technique for achieving the maximum utilization of harvested energy in perpetual wireless nanonetworks, where nanonodes communicate in the THz frequency band. Because of their nano-scale sizes, nanonodes cannot store large amounts of energy.

Propagation Modeling for Wireless Communications in the Terahertz Band

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2018
Terahertz band (0.1-10 THz) communication is envisioned as a key technology to support ultra-broadband wireless systems for beyond 5G. For realization of efficient wireless communication networks in the THz band, it is imperative to develop channel models that can accurately and efficiently characterize the THz spectrum peculiarities.
