Regenerative terahertz quantum detectors [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
Because of the ultrafast and photon-driven nature of the transport in their active region, we demonstrate that quantum cascade lasers can be operated as resonantly amplified terahertz detectors with wide RF bandwidth. Tunable responsivities up to 50 V/W and noise equivalent powers down to 100 pW/Hz1/2 are demonstrated at 4.7 THz.

Terahertz Generation by Optical Rectification of 780 nm Laser Pulses in Pure and Sc-Doped ZnGeP2 Crystals

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
Terahertz wave generation through the optical rectification of 780 nm femtosecond laser pulses in ZnGeP2 crystals has been studied. All of the possible interactions of types I and II were analyzed by modeling and experimentally.

Efficient photoconductive terahertz detection through photon trapping in plasmonic nanocavities

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
We present a photoconductive terahertz detector that employs a plasmonic nanocavity to offer high-sensitivity and broadband operation when used in a terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system even at very low optical pump power levels.

New Antenna for Detecting Polarization States of Terahertz

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
The polarization measurement of terahertz (THz) waves is indispensable in THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) applications to detect material properties.

Single Nanowire Photoconductive Terahertz Detectors [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2014
Spectroscopy and imaging in the terahertz (THz) region of the electromagnetic spectrum has proven to provide important insights in fields as diverse as chemical analysis, materials characterization, security screening, and nondestructive testing. However, compact optoelectronics suited to the most powerful terahertz technique, time-domain spectroscopy,

Advances on terahertz single-pixel imaging

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Single-pixel imaging is a novel imaging technique that can obtain image information through a single-pixel detector. It can effectively avoid the problem of lack of high-quality area array detectors in the terahertz band, and has attracted the attention ...

Molecular Junctions for Terahertz Switches and Detectors

open access: yesNano Letters, 2023
Abstract Molecular electronics targets tiny devices exploiting the electronic properties of the molecular orbitals, which can be tailored and controlled by the chemical structure/conformation of the molecules. Many functional devices have been experimentally demonstrated; however, these devices were operated in the low frequency domain (mainly,

Near-Field Analysis of Terahertz Pulse Generation From Photo-Excited Charge Density Gradients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Excitation of photo-current transients at semiconductor surfaces by subpicosecond optical pulses gives rise to emission of electromagnetic pulses of terahertz (THz) frequency radiation.
