Metasurface absorber with ultra-thin thickness designed for a terahertz focal plane array detector.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
Terahertz (THz) refers to electromagnetic waves with frequency from 0.1 to 10 THz, which lies between millimeter waves and infrared light. This paper proposes an ultra-thin metasurface absorber which is perfectly suited to be the signal coupling part of ...

MILLIMETER AND TERAHERTZ RADIATION DETECTOR

open access: yesVestnik SSUGT (Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies), 2021
The aim of this work is an analytical review of terahertz and millimeter-wave radiation receivers. Classification of terahertz radiation receivers and their comparative characteristics are made. Various aspects of the application of terahertz radiation, as well as the main types and types of receivers of this radiation, are considered in this paper ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Real-Time 0.89 THz Terahertz Imaging with High-Electron-Mobility Transistor Detector and Hydrogen Cyanide Laser for Non-Destructive Nut Detection

open access: yesMicromachines
We present a method for real-time terahertz imaging that employs a hydrogen cyanide (HCN) laser as a terahertz source at 0.89 THz and an AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) terahertz detector as a camera.

Terahertz optical machine learning for object recognition

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2020
We demonstrate an optical machine learning method in the terahertz domain, which allows the recognition of objects within a single measurement. As many materials are transparent in the terahertz spectral region, objects hidden within such materials can ...

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Terahertz Meta-Holograms Reconstruction Based on Compressed Sensing

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
The introduction of single-pixel imaging and compressed sensing (CS) techniques into terahertz (THz) imaging has sped up image acquisition and avoided raster scanning. At present, most single-pixel terahertz imaging developments are based on simple metal

Comparison between Up-Conversion Detection in Glow-Discharge Detectors and the Schottky Diode for MMW/THz High-Power Single Pulse

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Generally, glow-discharge detectors (GDD), acting on miniature neon indicator lamps, and Schottky diode detectors serve as efficient, fast, and room-temperature millimeter wave (MMW)/THz detectors.

Ultrafast terahertz detectors

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2018
Terahertz (THz) technologies have broad application prospects in ultrafast space communication, heterodyne detection, biological detection, non-destructive testing and national security. Ultrafast THz detectors, which can respond to the THz light with modulation rate larger than 1 GHz, are the key component of fast imaging, space communication ...

High Charge Carrier Mobility in Non‐Conjugated 3D Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐conjugated 3D COF constructed via boronate ester linkages from tetraphenylene and pyrene‐based monomers is reported, which exhibits a high charge carrier mobility of 14 ± 1 cm2 V−1 s−1. ABSTRACT π‐Conjugation, π–π stacking, and long‐range order play a central role in determining charge transport efficiency in organic materials.
