A High-Sensitivity AlGaN/GaN HEMT Terahertz Detector with Integrated Broadband Bow-Tie Antenna

open access: yes, 2022
S.430-444Many emerging applications in the terahertz (THz)frequency range demand highly sensitive, broadband detectorsfor room-temperature operation. Field-effect transistors with in-tegrated antennas for THz detection (TeraFETs) have proven tomeet these

Microscopic Origin of Temperature‐Dependent Anisotropic Heat Transport in Ultrawide‐Bandgap Rutile GeO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rutile GeO2${\rm GeO}_{2}$ exhibits orientation‐dependent heat transport with temperature‐dependent anisotropy, showing higher cross‐plane thermal conductivity along [001] than along the equivalent in‐plane [100] and [010] directions. Temperature‐dependent TDTR measurements and first‐principles phonon calculations identify the microscopic phonon ...

Real-time terahertz imaging for art conservation science [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2008
A new real-time terahertz imaging system has been developed by using a quantum cascade laser source and a microbolometer focal plane detector array. The application to non-invasive analyses of cultural heritage is demonstrated with an oil paint specimen.

MEMS-Based Terahertz Detectors [PDF]

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2015
A MEMS based novel THz detector structure is designed and realized by micro fabrication. The detector is then characterized to extract its mechanical performance. Operating in 1-5 THz band, the detector has a pixel size of 200 μm × 200 μm. Bimaterial suspension legs consist of Parylene-C and titanium, the pair of which provides a high mismatch in ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Carbon Nanotube Detectors and Spectrometers for the Terahertz Range

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
We present the compact unified charge control model (UCCM) for carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFETs) to enable the accurate simulation of the DC characteristics and plasmonic terahertz (THz) response in the CNTFETs.

Improvement of the Electro-Optical Process in GaAs for Terahertz Single Pulse Detection by Using a Fiber-Coupling System

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The electro-optical process is a popular method for terahertz radiation detection. Detectors based on the electro-optical process have large bandwidth, and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is relatively high.

High Charge Carrier Mobility in Non‐Conjugated 3D Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐conjugated 3D COF constructed via boronate ester linkages from tetraphenylene and pyrene‐based monomers is reported, which exhibits a high charge carrier mobility of 14 ± 1 cm2 V−1 s−1. ABSTRACT π‐Conjugation, π–π stacking, and long‐range order play a central role in determining charge transport efficiency in organic materials.
