Terahertz Rectifyier for Integrated Image Detector

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2015
AbstractWe present a new CMOS compatible direct conversion terahertz detector operating at room temperature. The rectenna consists in a truncated conical helix extruded from a planar spiral and connected to a nanometric metallic whisker at one of its edges. The whisker reaches the semiconductor substrate that constitutes the antenna ground plane.

Carrierless I-Q Mixing for Terahertz Communications

open access: yes, 2022
We experimentally demonstrate the transmission of a carrierless quadrature amplitude-modulated signals at a data rate up to 64 Gbit/s using a 253 GHz photonics-based terahertz communications system with optical intensity modulation, 10-km single mode ...

Unlocking Terahertz Steganography: Authentication of Hidden Images in Flexible Media

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hidden information in multilayered devices, such as steganographic portraits, is detected and authenticated using reflection‐mode terahertz time‐domain imaging. Image reconstruction relies on a dedicated figure‐of‐merit obtained by integrating the signal intensity over the time‐window associated with the reflection from the metallic mirror backing the ...

Localized Ion Irradiation Enables Topography‐Free High‐Tc Superconducting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A topography‐free oxygen ion‐irradiation strategy is demonstrated for patterning superconducting YBCO terahertz metamaterials without physical material removal. The approach preserves film integrity while enabling large spectral tunability, ultrafast optical modulation, and dual‐band resonance control, providing a scalable platform for low‐loss ...

Near‐Field Nanoimaging of Programmable Phase Transitions in Ga+‐Irradiated VO2

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Focused Ga+ ion irradiation locally reprograms the insulator‐to‐metal transition in VO2 thin films. Infrared and terahertz near‐field nanoimaging reveals that low irradiation doses localize the resistive‐switching filament within the defect region, while high doses suppress switching there and redirect the filament into pristine VO2.

Wavelength‐Multiplexed 2D Beam Steering via a Passive Diffractive Network

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Illustration of a wavelength‐multiplexed diffractive beam steering system, which is composed of K cascaded diffractive layers, each containing phase‐modulating elements that are jointly optimized using deep learning–based optimization. When illuminated with a set of wavelengths {λ1,λ2,…,λNw}$\{ {{{\lambda }_1},{{\lambda }_2},\ldots ,{{\lambda }_{{{N}_w}
