Multi‐Octave All‐Dielectric Directional Coupler Using Integrated Half‐Mirror for Ultrawideband Terahertz Systems

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Fully exploiting the broad untapped terahertz spectrum necessitates extending the bandwidth of practical guided‐wave systems. This work introduces a substrateless quasi‐optical integration platform to meet this need. Classical optical principles going back to the time of Michelson are adapted to a planar, micro‐machined, monolithic‐silicon platform ...

Broadband Visible Wavelength Microcomb Generation In Silicon Nitride Microrings Through Air‐Clad Dispersion Engineering

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Air‐clad silicon nitride microring resonators enable visible microcomb generation in wavelength regions where oxide‐clad structures cannot achieve anomalous dispersion. Despite lower quality factors, enhanced nonlinearity from tighter mode confinement allows comb generation at standard pump powers (150 mW).

On‐Chip Active High‐Q Slow Light Topological Cavities

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A slow light topological cavity is presented, where the light confinement and the quality (Q) factor are controlled through engineered dispersion of the slow light waveguide mode and its group velocity, introducing a new degree of freedom to design high‐Q photonic cavities.

Double‐Sided Metamaterial for Sensitivity Enhancement in THz Impedance Spectroscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Identical double‐sided THz MM sensor is described, which has high resonance strength and quality along with enhanced dielectric response due to enhanced THz blocking and light‐trapping effects. Applying FP‐MM resonance de‐coupling techniques, this architecture reaches a sensitivity of 1400 GHz/RIU. Abstract Multi‐layer terahertz (THz) electric‐LC (ELC)
