Generalized treatment of skew-cosh-Gaussian lasers for bifocal terahertz radiation

, 2020
A generalized treatment of skew-cosh-Gaussian lasers with skewness parameters n and s is provided for obtaining bifocal terahertz radiation in a realistic plasma having electron-neutral collisions.

Imaging with terahertz radiation

Reports on Progress in Physics, 2007
Within the last several years, the field of terahertz science and technology has changed dramatically. Many new advances in the technology for generation, manipulation, and detection of terahertz radiation have revolutionized the field. Much of this interest has been inspired by the promise of valuable new applications for terahertz imaging and sensing.

Review of Intense Terahertz Radiation from Relativistic Laser-Produced Plasmas

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2019
Recent years have witnessed a rapid development of sources for intense terahertz (THz) pulses and an increasing number of their applications. The advent of laser pulses with intensities in excess of $10^{18}$ W/cm2 offers an immense opportunity for ...

Terahertz radiation detectors: the state-of-the-art

Semiconductor Science and Technology, 2018
The phenomena and recent progress in the evolution of the basic classes of the THz detectors that exist today are considered. Issues associated with the development and exploitation of THz radiation detectors in human activity applications are briefly ...

Quadrupole radiation from terahertz dipole antennas

Optics Letters, 2000
We report what is to our knowledge the first detailed investigation of the polarization state of radiation from lens-coupled terahertz dipole antennas. The radiation exhibits a weak but measurable component that is polarized orthogonally to the orientation of the emitter dipole.

Langmuir wave undulator for terahertz radiation

Optics Letters, 2012
A source of terhertz (THz) radiation based on the free-electron laser, where a plasma wave plays the role of undulator, is theoretically studied. This scheme can generate coherent photons in the range of 0.1-10 THz. The feasible physical parameters in laboratories are estimated.

Imprinted diffractive optics for terahertz radiation

Optics Letters, 2007
Terahertz diffractive optic elements have been fabricated in polypropylene by imprinting with a silicon master. A silicon master is created with eight phase levels for high diffraction efficiency and etched using inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching.

Terahertz radiation and spectroscopy

OSA Annual Meeting, 1993
Various mechanisms for generating short pulses of terahertz radiation by excitation with ultrafast laser pulses are described, together with optoelectronic and bolometric means of terahertz detection.

Terahertz radiation probes polymers

C&EN Global Enterprise, 2016
For a long time, the club of scientists working with terahertz radiation was fairly exclusive. Its “members” included instrumentation aficionados who made customized equipment for probing molecules in the terahertz range (1 THz = 1012 Hz), also known as the far-infrared range. These scientists used light in this portion of the electromagnetic spectrum,

Noninvasive Mail Inspection System with Terahertz Radiation

Applied Spectroscopy, 2009
Using the high penetrability of the terahertz waves and the characteristic absorption spectra in this frequency range, we have built a noninvasive mail inspection system targeting drugs and explosives. The system is composed of two stages; in the first stage, the scattering of a continuous terahertz wave is used for selecting mail that contains ...
