Emission of Terahertz Radiation

2003
As described by the theory set out in Chap. 1 and proven by the experiments discussed in Chap. 4, Bloch oscillations are associated with a harmonic spatial motion of carriers. It is obvious that these carriers should thus generate radiation owing to their continuous acceleration.

Sensing Using Terahertz Radiation

International Journal of High Speed Electronics and Systems
Terahertz (THz) sensing technology enables 6G communication, detection of biological and chemical hazardous agents, cancer detection, monitoring of industrial processes and products, and detection of mines and explosives. THz sensors support security in buildings, airports, and other public spaces.

A terahertz radiation spectrum analyzer

Instruments and Experimental Techniques, 2012
A spectrum analyzer of terahertz radiation pulses has been designed for spectroscopic studies of condensed media, gases, and plasmas. The operating frequency range is 0.05–6.00 THz, the frequency resolution is 0.5 cm−1, and the aperture is 40 mm.

Ticking terahertz radiation in attoseconds

International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meetings, 2012
We perform a joint measurement of terahertz waves and high-order harmonics generated from noble atoms driven by a fundamental laser pulse and its second harmonic. By correlating their dependence on the phase-delay of the two pulses, we determine the generation of THz waves in attosecond resolution.

MINIATURIZED TERAHERTZ RADIATION SOURCE

2001
The invention relates to a miniaturized terahertz radiation source based on the Smith-Purcell effect. According to the invention, an energy-rich electron beam is emitted from a focused electron source at a defined distance across a metal grid of transversal grid rods so that oscillating image charges emit electromagnetic waves of a wavelength that can ...

Damage thresholds for terahertz radiation

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
Several international organizations establish minimum safety standards to ensure that workers and the general population are protected against adverse health effects associated with electromagnetic radiation. Suitable standards are typically defined using published experimental data. To date, few experimental studies have been conducted at Terahertz

Terahertz radiation from Josephson sandwiches

Low Temperature Physics, 2010
Basic results are presented from a study of the Cerenkov emission of electromagnetic waves by solitary vortices and Swihart waves moving in a long Josephson sandwich embedded in a dielectric. The energy fluxes of the electromagnetic field along a long sandwich are examined.

Sources of Coherent Terahertz Radiation

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006
New results in the field of high‐frequency gyrotrons, gyro‐multipliers and orotrons allow one to consider these electron devices as promising candidates for the realization of powerful and available sources in Terahertz range. Electron beams with a very high compression of up to a factor of 4,400 have been obtained and selective generation at the 1st ...
