Optimization of photomixers and antennas for continuous-wave terahertz emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have studied terahertz emission from interdigitated finger photomixers coupled to planar antenna structures. Using both pulsed and continuous-wave excitation, polarization measurements reveal that the antenna design dominates the properties of the

Terahertz active spatial filtering through optically tunable hyperbolic metamaterials

open access: yes, 2012
We theoretically consider infrared-driven hyperbolic metamaterials able to spatially filtering terahertz radiation. The metamaterial is a slab made of alternating semiconductor and dielectric layers whose homogenized uniaxial response, at terahertz ...

Enhancement of Terahertz radiation due to excitation of SPW on graphene strip coated on GaAs structure

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2023
The present study proposes a methodology for improving terahertz (THz) radiation through the utilisation of a laser directed towards a graphene strip that has been coated onto a GaAs structure.

Terahertz pulse radiation from argon clusters

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
The characteristics of THz pulse radiation from argon clusters irradiated with intense femtosecond laser pulses have been investigated. The average power of the THz pulses radiated from argon clusters is approximately 40 times greater than that from argon gas.

Terahertz plasmonic laser radiating in an ultra-narrow beam

open access: yes, 2016
Plasmonic lasers (spasers) generate coherent surface-plasmon-polaritons (SPPs) and could be realized at subwavelength dimensions in metallic cavities for applications in nanoscale optics. Plasmonic cavities are also utilized for terahertz quantum-cascade

Acoustic phase imaging with terahertz radiation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
We report on acoustic phase imaging of objects using terahertz radiation. The sensitivity of the technique is sufficient to detect objects at oscillation amplitudes down to about 300 nm. Such acoustic amplitudes are comparable to the human physiological perception level, which offers novel opportunities in security imaging.

Using 0.1 THz Radiation Regulates Collagen Synthesis Through TGF-β/Smad Signaling Pathway in Human Fetal Scleral Fibroblasts

open access: yesCells
Scleral tissue is a connective tissue made up of dense, intertwined collagen fibers that plays a vital part in preserving both the integrity of vision and the shape of the eyeball. Numerous studies have been conducted on the impact of terahertz radiation

The Impact of Structural Parameters of Split-Ring Resonators on the Terahertz Radiation Characteristics of Micro-Structured Photoconductive Antennas: A Simulation Study

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
In this study, we have theoretically designed a micro-structured photoconductive antenna based on the combination of split-ring resonator (SRR) and dipole photoconductive antenna.
