Ultrabroadband Terahertz Spectroscopy

2012
Low energy region correspond to the Boltzmann thermal energy \( \left( {k_{B} T} \right) \) show condensed matter properties and electric phenomena. Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy technique enables us to access this low energy level excitation including the conductivity of itinerant charges, plasmons and polarons.

Applications of Terahertz Spectroscopy in Biosystems

ChemPhysChem, 2007
AbstractTerahertz (THz) spectroscopic investigations of condensed‐phase biological samples are reviewed ranging from the simple crystalline forms of amino acids, carbohydrates and polypeptides to the more complex aqueous forms of small proteins, DNA and RNA.

Nonlinear Terahertz Spectroscopy

2012
Until recently, the pulse energies and field strengths of terahertz (THz) pulses have been too low to be used to excite matter or to study nonlinear effects in the THz range. In this chapter we will describe methods of generation and nonlinear spectroscopies with intense single- and few-cycle THz pulses, reporting the current state of the art.

Applications of terahertz spectroscopy

2009 34th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2009
In order to make use of terahertz (THz) spectroscopy technique for homeland security, anti-terrorism, and security inspection, we have examined the applications feasibility of THz spectroscopy to inspect and identify 30 kinds of illicit drugs, 20 kinds of amino acid and 10 kinds of explosives and related compounds (ERCs), respectively.

Terahertz spectroscopy of DNA

Optics and Spectroscopy, 2013
The spectra of the degraded DNA of herring are studied using two methods of THz spectroscopy that employ a femtosecond laser and a frequency synthesizer based on a BWO and a high-Q cavity. An interpretation of the experimental results is presented.

Terahertz Spectroscopy of Superconductors

Advances in Science and Technology, 2010
We show how synchrotron radiation (SR) in the terahertz (THz) region provides the possibility to measure the properties of conventional and exotic superconductors in their superconducting state. Indeed, through the coupling of SR and a conventional Michelson interferometer, one can obtain in the THz range a signal-to-noise ratio up to 103.
