Phonon‐Modulated Kerr Nonlinearity in Ultrathin 2H‐MoTe2

Phase‐sensitive cross‐phase modulation (XPM) encodes the pump‐induced transient nonlinear optical response of ultrathin 2H‐MoTe2 into the time‐dependent phase of a delayed broadband probe pulse. Dual‐pump excitation enables coherent control of the phonon‐modulated nonlinear response.

We observe a terahertz field enhancement in the junction between a sub-wavelength metal probe tip and a metallic substrate. We exploit this in the first observation of a metal-insulator transition using terahertz near-field techniques.

We examined the feasibility of Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) using a 4-mm-thick quartz crystal to extract the angle of rotation of THz radiation polarization induced by a two-color laser in air plasma.
