Principle of Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy
In this work, the detection of terahertz (THz) pulse via different schemes of THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS), including electro-optic sampling (EOS) and photoconductive sampling (PCS), has been reviewed by insisting on its principles and characteristics. Furthermore, four developments of THz-TDS, i.e. THz air-breakdown/biased coherent detection

Polarization-variable emitter for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
We report on the progress in the development of linear polarization-variable multielectrode emitters for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The results on its microfabrication, the finite element method modeling of appropriate bias distribution between electrodes, the finite-difference time-domain simulated spectral output, and actual experimental ...

Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.

High-pressure cell for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
We introduce a sample cell that can be used for pressure-dependent terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Compared with traditional far-IR spectroscopy with a diamond anvil cell, the larger aperture permits measurements down to much lower frequencies as low as 3.3 cm-1 (0.1 THz), giving access to new spectroscopic results.

Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy Ellipsometry
Ellipsometry is extensively used in the optical regime to investigate the properties of many materials as well as to evaluate with high precision the surface roughness and thickness of thin films and multilayered systems. Due to the inherent non-coherent detection technique, data analyses in optical ellipsometry tend to be complicated and require the ...

Flexible and stackable terahertz metamaterials via silver-nanoparticle inkjet printing
There is presently much interest in tunable, flexible, or reconfigurable metamaterial structures that work in the terahertz frequency range. They can be useful for a range of applications, including spectroscopy, sensing, imaging, and communications ...

Coherent acoustic phonons are generated and optically controlled in bulk WSSe alloy samples using ultrafast spectroscopy. The alloy exhibits a strong coherent acoustic response, which is not an intermediate state between WS? and WSe?. Instead, a much more complex mechanism is proposed.
