Research on the Application of THz-TDS in Coal–Rock Interface Recognition

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The recognition of coal–rock interface is very crucial for research in the intelligent production of coal mines. To this end, the study investigated the application of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy in the recognition of coal–rock interface ...

Polarization-variable emitter for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
We report on the progress in the development of linear polarization-variable multielectrode emitters for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The results on its microfabrication, the finite element method modeling of appropriate bias distribution between electrodes, the finite-difference time-domain simulated spectral output, and actual experimental ...

Large Temperature‐invariant Anomalous Nernst Effect in Non‐collinear Antiferromagnet Mn3Pt

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the noncollinear antiferromagnetic Mn3Pt thin films, the composition‐tunable Mn‐3d orbital states directly govern the Berry curvature. As a result, a giant and temperature‐invariant anomalous Nernst coefficient of 0.71 µV/K is achieved under Mn‐rich conditions.

Extreme‐Thickness Meta‐Membrane for Controlling Terahertz Vectorial Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose ultra‐thin (λ/30) transmissive terahertz metasurfaces combining near‐field resonant and detour phases in coupled‐slit meta‐atoms, enabling continuous phase and polarization control beyond conventional designs. Based on leaky‐mode theory, scalar and vectorial terahertz Bessel beams at 0.39 THz are experimentally demonstrated, with ...

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

Halide Perovskite: A Rich Source of Thermal Insulator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Halide perovskites exhibit ultralow thermal conductivity driven by intrinsic lattice softness and strong anharmonicity, falling below conventional defect‐engineering limits. Weak metavalent bonding, A‐site rattling, and dynamic octahedral tilting drive phonon scattering to the Ioffe–Regel limit, where wave‐like tunneling replaces particle‐like ...

Step-scan time-domain terahertz magneto-spectroscopy

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
We present a novel approach for terahertz time-domain spectroscopy of magneto-optic phenomena. The setup used in this work combines a tabletop pulsed magnet and a standard terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system. The approach is based on repetitive operation of the pulsed magnet and step-wise increment of the delay time of the time-domain ...

Characterization of a glow discharge detector with terahertz time domain spectroscopy

open access: yes2013 38th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2013
The capability of low cost glow discharge detectors (GDDs) for detection of terahertz (THz) radiation draws attention recently. In order to employ them in applications such as THz imaging these studies have typically focused on the response of the GDD at specific frequencies.
