Traffic light at DSB–transit regulation between gene transcription and DNA repair

Upon the generation of a break, DNA damage response activation represses transcription of genes in cis via an ATM‐ and PRC1‐dependent chromatin modification and compaction. Concomitantly, RNAPII accumulates in proximity to DNA ends and locally synthesizes chromatin‐bound ncRNAs.
