T ERATOMA of the tonsil is a rare tumor. 1 In 1903, Augier and Lavrand 2 first reported such a tumor in a 3½-month-old child; and in 1924, Harper 3 published the first case in the English language. Since then, a few isolated reports have occurred. A recent case studied at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, and eight cases (Table) collected from ...

Two cases of sacrococcygeal teratomas are presented. One case illustrates the long course of urologic problems produced by a "successful" removal of the tumor. The literature is reviewed, and the characteristics of this congenital tumor are discussed.

This article presents a case report of an intraoral teratoma in an 11-year-old boy. The tumor contained cartilage, smooth muscle, respiratory epithelium, brain, and skeletal muscle. Two adjacent cervical lymph nodes exhibited reactive changes, but another had been largely replaced by brain tissue.

Abstract Eight cases of sacrococcygeal teratoma are described. Seven patients were diagnosed at birth, and one presented at 3 1/2 months of age with urinary retention. Two patients had associated congenital anomalies (arachnoid cyst, external angular dermoid and bifid sacrum), while one had a family history of sacrococcygeal teratoma.

Using an ammoniacal silver nitrate stain, we have demonstrated typical microglial cells in three teratomas. Microglia appeared identical to their counterparts in the mature human brain, both resting and slightly hypertrophic types being present in differentiated nervous tissue, which also comprised astrocytes, neurones and ependyma. The implications of

Mediastinal teratomas are rare, constituting only 8-13% of tumours in this region. Teratomas often contain structures from all three germ layers, and 15-20% are malignant. A report is presented of eight patients operated on in 1978-1985 for mediastinal teratoma histologically classified as benign.

SUMMARY A case of teratoma of the testis is described. The presenting symptom was loss of sensation in the fourth and fifth fingers. On investigation the patient was found to have a left testicular teratoma, multiple metastases in the liver, and enlarged lymph nodes in the left supraclavicular fossa causing Horner's syndrome and ulnar

Gastric teratoma accounts for less than 1% of all teratomas occurring in children, usually males. These tumors may be benign or malignant and complete excision of the tumor in either case carries a good prognosis. This rare case is an addition to the few cases of gastric teratomas in females reported in world literature and presenting as an exophytic &

Teratomas are predominantly tumors of infancy, usually detected during the first two years of life and occurring twice as frequently in male as in female children. Like other tumors of childhood, they often are benign but have serious potentialities of malignancy.

Oronasopharyngeal teratomas are rare tumours that usually present in the neonatal period with airway obstruction. Management should include prompt establishment of the airway and early excision. Complete excision is recommended, which may require more than one operation, but multilating surgery should be avoided as the malignant potential of these ...
