Malignant transformation of mature cystic teratoma of the ovary

The journal of obstetrics and gynaecology research, 2022

Microglia in teratomas [PDF]

open access: possibleActa Neuropathologica, 1985
Using an ammoniacal silver nitrate stain, we have demonstrated typical microglial cells in three teratomas. Microglia appeared identical to their counterparts in the mature human brain, both resting and slightly hypertrophic types being present in differentiated nervous tissue, which also comprised astrocytes, neurones and ependyma. The implications of

Teratomas excluding monodermal teratomas [PDF]

open access: possibleCurrent Diagnostic Pathology, 1995
Although only 3% of ovarian teratomas are immature, they account for almost 20% of primitive germ cell tumours and for 10-20% of ovarian cancer in the first two decades, the age group in which these tumours typically occur.14 There is usually a palpable abdominal or pelvic mass, frequently accompanied by pain.

Teratomas in childhood

Pathology, 1975

The 34 purely posterior tumours were always congenital and benign whilst the incidence of malignancy in dum bell and pre-sacral teratomas increased as the ...

TERATOMA OF THE LARYNX

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1953
TERATOMAS have been described by Willis 1 in his recent monograph as true tumors or neoplasms composed of multiple tissues foreign to the part in which they arise. Most teratomas occur in relation to the sacral region, the sex glands, or the neck, although there is scarcely a location in which they have not been found. Willis subscribes to Krafka's 2 "

Teratoma of the Tonsil

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1969
T ERATOMA of the tonsil is a rare tumor. 1 In 1903, Augier and Lavrand 2 first reported such a tumor in a 3½-month-old child; and in 1924, Harper 3 published the first case in the English language. Since then, a few isolated reports have occurred. A recent case studied at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, and eight cases (Table) collected from ...

Origin of teratomas

Cancer, 1973
The histologic, cytologic, and clinical features of teratomas are discussed in relation to the possible methods of origin of these unusual lesions. It is suggested that there are two groups of teratomas. One type seen in the gonads and possibly in the posterior abdominal wall is derived from germ cells by a process of parthenogenesis.
