Preparation of metallic terbium and terbium hydride
Inorganic Materials, 2000The conditions of the reaction between TbCl3 and LiH were optimized. The resultant terbium hydride was used to obtain metallic terbium by vacuum thermolysis.

Terbium-terbium interactions in lead phosphate glasses
Journal of Applied Physics, 2013Blue and green luminescence spectra of Tb3+ ions in lead phosphate glasses were examined under UV excitation. The green-to-blue luminescence intensity ratio G/B is considerably reduced with decreasing Tb3+ concentration. Thus, blue emission lines are enhanced in comparison to the main 5D4-7F5 green transition of Tb3+.

The Structure of Terbium in the Ferromagnetic State
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2023Metals typically crystallize in highly symmetric structures due to their nondirectional and nonsaturated metallic bonds. Here, we report that terbium metal in its ferromagnetic state adopts an unusual low-symmetry orthorhombic structure with a Cmcm space group.

Measurement of binding of terbium to DNA
Bioinorganic Chemistry, 1978This communication demonstrates further that terbium(III) can be used as a probe for DNA. The stoichiometry of terbium binding to DNA was measured by two new methods. In the first method, calf-thymus DNA was titrated with radioactive terbium-160, which is an isotope of the common terbium-159.

Alloys of cerium with neodymium, samarium and terbium, and of praseodymium with terbium
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1968Abstract The lattice spacings of a selection of alloys in the systems Ce-Nd, Ce-Sm, Ce-Tb and Pr-Tb, have been determined. For the Ce-Nd, Ce-Tb and Pr-Tb systems, the room-temperature magnetic susceptibilities of certain alloys have been determined. Extrapolation of the atomic volume/composition plots of alloys with the double hexagonal structure in ...

Absorption Spectra of Terbium Perchlorate and Terbium Chloride Solutions
Analytical Chemistry, 1958The spectra of terbium perchlorate and terbium chloride solutions have been recorded in the range of 200 to 1200 m mu with the Cary recording spectrophotometer. An intense absorption at 219.8 m mu follows Reer's law and is usable for accurate determination of terbium at low concentrations.

Terbium replacement of calcium in parvalbumin
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1978Abstract Carp muscle calcium binding parvalbumin, crystallized in 2.9 m -ammonium sulfate, can bind two Tb3+ ions, which displace the two Ca2+ ions normally present. The Ca2+ co-ordinated in the loop between the E and the F α-helices is displaced at low Tb3+ concentrations; whereas the Ca2+ at the CD site is replaced only at higher Tb3 ...

Aging in the ferromagnetic phase of terbium
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2012We report on aging, rejuvenation and memory effects in the ferromagnetic phase of pure terbium. We have applied an experimental method specifically for investigating slow dynamics of spin glasses, because these effects cannot be interpreted as conventional diffusion after-effects.
