Hydrolysis of waste polyethylene terephthalate catalyzed by easily recyclable terephthalic acid
Waste Management, 2021Hydrolysis of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is an efficient strategy for the depolymerization of waste PET to terephthalic acid (TPA), which can be used as a fundamental building block for the repolymerization of PET or for the synthesis of biodegradable plastics and metal-organic frameworks.

Post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles, after some pre-processing, were chemically depolymerized for the production of terephthalic acid (TPA), an important monomer of PET resin. The optimized condition of PET hydrolysis was 100°C with 80% v/v aqueous sulfuric acid liquor for 30 min reaction time.

AbstractAn in depth study is performed on the origin of and influences on the formation of tetrahydrofuran (THF) during the first stage of the terephthalic acid (TPA) based synthesis of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT). Although many improvements on the synthesis process of PBT have been reported in literature to suppress this undesired side reaction,

UDC 678.674'524'420.03 An investigation of the solution of terephthalic acid (TPA) in ethylene glycol (EG) and their reaction products is of considerable interest because the solution is a necessary precondition for the reaction of direct esterification.

Morphology and Polymorphism of Terephthalic Acid
Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1994Abstract The phase characterisation and morphologies of forms I and II terephthalic acid are presented. The structural nature of the II ↔ I polymorphic phase transition has been explored and form II shown to be more stable at room temperature and pressure. A new mechanism is proposed for the apparent stability of multiply twinned slamples of form I.

Polymorphism and aging in terephthalic acid
Crystal Research and Technology, 1985AbstractThe role of the polymorphic transformation was investigated by X‐Ray diffraction in the habit modification process of terephthalic acid reported earlier (Gaines, Myerson). Contrary to the expectations it was found that only one of the two polymorphs described in the literature (Bailey, Brown) was present.

[Toxicokinetics of terephthalic acid].
Wei sheng yan jiu = Journal of hygiene research, 2002In order to study the toxicokinetics of terephthalic acid(TPA) in rats, and provide scientific basis for its biological exposed index (BEI), the concentrations of urine TPA in rats after single oral administration in dose of 100 mg/kg BW were determined by high pressure liquid chromatography.

A study on the esterification of terephthalic acid
European Polymer Journal, 1972Abstract The esterifications of terephthalic acid and monomethylterephthalate with methanol have been studied in order to compare the reaction rate constants of the first and second carboxyl groups of terephthalic acid. The ratio of the two constants is found to be 1 · 18 ± 0 · 07 at 110°.
