Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.

From Computational Screening to Enhanced Adsorption: Optimized Removal of Toxic Congo Red by Nitrogen‐rich Triazine Polymers

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study validates a DFT‐employed screening approach for discovering new adsorbent materials for organic dyes, successfully identifying CCTAT POP as a highly effective adsorbent for Congo red dye. The POP material exhibits a superior adsorption capacity (46.51 mg g−1) and maintains a regeneration ability, achieving over 90% removal efficiency in ...

The Post-War Port Industry Development Models: the Effects on the Economic Development of the Port’s Hinterland. [PDF]

open access: yes
The economic development of the port industry that followed the Second World War was based upon two economic theories trends. Until the late 70’s the model based on Keynesianism forms the basic idea for ownership, infrastructure, investment, pricing ...

Characteristics, properties and limitations of per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and fluoropolymers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
An overview and categorization of man‐made per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) including low‐molar‐mass and high‐molar‐mass fluorochemicals, and their international regulations is presented. Though certain PFASs are toxic, bioaccumulative and cross the human cellular membranes, others, such as fluoropolymers, are safe, reliable and involved in ...

Development of Tunable Materials From Well‐Defined Alendronic Acid Functionalized Polyacrylamide: An Opportunity for Actinide Decontamination

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Alendronate‐based copolymers for Nd and Ce recovery. ABSTRACT Bisphosphonic acid groups are emerging as promising functionalities for actinide decontamination, due to their high density of chelating sites. However, the chemistry of bisphosphonate (in particular alendronate) materials remains complex and underexplored.

Understanding methanotroph ecology in a biofilter for efficiently mitigating methane emissions : a thesis presented in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Soil Science (Biotechnology) at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In New Zealand, the majority of the greenhouse gas (GHG), methane (CH4) emissions are from the agriculture sector (enteric fermentation, manure management) and the remainder from solid waste disposal, coal mining and natural gas leaks.

Selectively Cleavable Silicone Elastomers Based on Acetal Cross‐Linkers: Synthesis, Properties, and Study of Chemical Degradation

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
A novel silicone elastomer based on selectively cleavable acetal cross‐linkers incorporated by hydrosilylation was developed. Different acetal cross‐linkers were synthesized and introduced into a silicone formulation of vinyl‐terminated PDMS and tetrakis(dimethylsiloxy)silane using Karstedt's catalyst.

Landless peasants, soilless cultivation: British agricultural experimentation and intervention in post‐independence Iraq (1932–1958)

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
‘Greening’ is often depicted as an inherently benevolent practice, turning arid stretches of land into arable and fertile plots. However, by considering a longer history of place and taking archival records into account, such transformations are rendered more complex and, often, more fraught.

A Comprehensive Review of Adsorbents for Rare Earth Separation: Design, Synthesis, Adsorption Performance, and Mechanisms

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rare earth elements (REEs) play an irreplaceable role in modern technology and industry. However, due to the highly similar physicochemical properties among REEs, their separation remains a significant challenge. Additionally, REEs often exist in low‐concentration solutions, making efficient REE recovery an urgent task.
