Satellite Rendezvous Terminal Guidance System

ARS Journal, 1961
The terminal guidance system concept presented here is suitable for a variety of space rendezvous missions, such as the interrogation and possible negation of enemy satellites, maintenance and supply of space stations, and performance of space rescue.

Midcourse guidance with terminal handover constraint

2016 American Control Conference (ACC), 2016
This work addresses guiding a missile during the midcourse phase of flight. It is assumed the missile has the goal of arriving at a (possibly moving) target at a specified terminal flight path angle, while simultaneously optimizing an energy cost function. In general, the missile is assumed to have the entire flight time to meet the prescribed terminal

Missile guidance with constrained terminal body angle

2010 IEEE 26-th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2010
A novel missile guidance law that simultaneously minimizes the miss distance and imposes a predetermined terminal body angle is presented. The guidance law is derived by analyzing an interception scenario within the framework of a linear quadratic (LQ) terminal control problem.

Entry guidance with terminal approach angle constraint

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2020
Abstract Achieving a desired terminal approach angle is required by an advanced entry vehicle in missions of landing or defense penetration. An entry guidance method is developed to satisfy the terminal approach angle constraint as well as the conventional constraints.

Terminal-Lead-Angle-Constrained Generalized Explicit Guidance

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2017
Besides enhancing the warhead effectiveness, the terminal lead angle constraint ensures that the target remains within the field of view of the radio proximity fuse, which is very critical for the success of a mission. This paper presents substantial enhancement of the generalized explicit guidance to include the terminal lead angle constraint in three

Suboptimal guidance laws with terminal jerk constraint

2007 International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems, 2007
In this paper, a suboptimal guidance law with the terminal constraints on impact angle, acceleration, and time-derivative of acceleration (jerk) is presented. The proposed homing guidance problem is an over-determined problem, i.e., the number of constraints is much larger than the order of system.

Instability of Spinning Projectiles During Terminal Guidance

Journal of Guidance and Control, 1979
We examine the criteria for dynamic stability of a spinning projectile subjected to steady horizontal and vertical side forces applied at the nose; such forces could, for example, be generated by canards mounted on a roll-stabilized nose. The problem requires an extension of standard aeroballistic theory which yields intersting new information on ...

Terminal area guidance for reusable launch vehicles

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2015
In this paper, a ranging-capability-estimation approach and an adaptive guidance law are developed for reusable launch vehicle during the terminal area energy management. The reference trajectory is planned within the neighborhood of the center of ranging capability.

Reentry Terminal Guidance Through Sliding Mode Control

AIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Conference and Exhibit, 2008
A guidance scheme has been developed for the terminal guidance of an unpowered lifting reentry vehicle during the approach and landing phase. The proposed approach is quite useful for offline trajectory design and allows for trajectories to be generated online through the use of a closed-loop control law.
