Biased penalty function algorithms for optimal control problems with terminal restraints
International Journal of Control, 1976Algorithms based on biasing data entering a square law terminal error penalty function are synthesized for the optimal control problem with terminal restraints at a fixed time. A development leads to basic, interpolative, and control compensated-bias updating strategies with progressively improved performance compared with existing methods demonstrated

An economic model predictive control scheme with terminal penalty for continuous-time systems
53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014In this paper, convergence and performance properties of a sample-data continuous time model predictive control (MPC) scheme with economic performance index are developed. In particular, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence of the close loop state trajectory to a steady state and constructive methods to design a terminal set and a terminal ...

Global convergence and finite termination of a class of smooth penalty function algorithms
Optimization Methods and Software, 2013In this paper, based on a new class of asymptotic l 1 exact penalty functions, we propose a smooth penalty function for solving nonlinear programming problems. One of the main features of our algorithm is that at each iteration, we do not need to solve the global minimum of penalty functions.

A Rolling Horizon Procedure with Terminal Penalty for Large-Scale Single Machine Scheduling Problems
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2013Abstract A more general rolling horizon procedure with terminal penalty (TP-RHP) is proposed for the single machine scheduling problems with release dates where the objective is to minimize a regular sum criterion. In TP-RHP, a sub-problem with global performance is formulated by adding the terminal penalty cost to the local performance of a local ...

In the practice of labor relations, it is difficult to terminate the employment contract due to the application of administrative punishment to the employee, which excludes the possibility of fulfilling his duties under the employment contract. In the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the types of such administrative punishments are not clearly ...

Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1980
In Part 1 of this paper, implementable and conceptual versions of an algorithm for optimal control problems with control constraints and terminal equality constraints were presented. It was shown that anyL ∞ accumulation points of control sequences generated by the algorithms satisfy necessary conditions of optimality.

Three augmented penalty function algorithms are tested and compared with an ordinary penalty function algorithm for two demonstration optimal control problems. Although the augmented penalty function is quite helpful in solving control problems with terminal state constraints, the convergence can be improved significantly by providing systematic ...

SummaryIn this paper, we propose the novel concept of “control storage function” and introduce upper and lower bounds to the best asymptotic average performance for nonlinear control systems based on suitable notions of dissipativity and controlled dissipativity.

The ethical debate over mandatory healthcare worker (HCW) influenza vaccination is a heated one. Our study hospital instituted a mandatory employee influenza vaccination policy for the 2009-2010 influenza season during the highly publicized pandemic of the H1N1 "Swine Flu." Under this mandate there was no informed declination option, and termination of
