C-terminal interactions of apolipoprotein E4 respond to the postprandial state

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2006
Increased triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TGRLs) in the postprandial state are associated with atherosclerosis. We investigated whether the postprandial state induced structural changes at the apolipoprotein E4 (apoE4) C terminus, its principal lipid ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Indefinite LQ Optimal Control with Terminal State Constraint for Discrete-Time Uncertain Systems

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2016
Uncertainty theory is a branch of mathematics for modeling human uncertainty based on the normality, duality, subadditivity, and product axioms. This paper studies a discrete-time LQ optimal control with terminal state constraint, whereas the weighting ...

Quantum stochastic processes in mesoscopic conductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We show an equivalence between the approach of Buttiker and the Fermi quantum stochastic calculus for mesoscopic systems. To illustrate the method we derive the current fluctuations in a two terminal mesoscopic circuit with two tunnel barriers containing

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Positive correlation between structural disorder of the HIV-1 Gag N-terminal segment and progeny virus particle formation

open access: yesJournal of Virology
A class of unstructured peptide segments termed disordered regions plays a crucial role in the regulation of protein structure and function. Although the N-terminal region of the matrix (MA) domain of the HIV-1 Gag precursor protein is composed of an ...

Adaptive Non-singular Terminal Sliding Mode Control for DC-DC Converters

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2011
DC-DC converters have some inherent characteristics such as high nonlinearity and time-variation, which often result in some difficulties in designing control schemes.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Hit and run versus long-term activation of PARP-1 by its different domains fine-tunes nuclear processes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) is a multidomain multifunctional nuclear enzyme involved in the regulation of the chromatin structure and transcription.
