[The neurology of terminal states].
Vestnik Rossiiskoi akademii meditsinskikh nauk, 1994The paper gives a theoretical justification of CNS abnormality developing in patients who have a history of critical and terminal states, including clinical death. The most significant abnormality is that which is termed posthypoxic and/or postresuscitation encephalopathies whose nature has not been elucidated particularly at the cellular and molecular

Termination policies for a two‐state stochastic process
Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1972AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to investigate and optimize policies which can be used to terminate a two‐state stochastic process with a random lifetime. Such a policy consists of a schedule of times at which termination attempts should be made.

Livestock Terminal Markets in the United States
1959Excerpts from the report Introduction: For more than half a century, the terminal market has been one of the most important livestock market outlets in the United States. Although the relative position of terminals as a livestock marketing channel began a long-term decline in the early 1920's, they are still an important and integral part of the ...

On the polarisation state of mobile terminals
Twelfth International Conference on Antennas and Propagation (ICAP 2003), 2003A mobile terminal generates electromagnetic fields whose polarisation states depend on the operating frequency, the direction of radiation and the effects of the user. We have simulated and measured the polarisation states of a simple prototype mobile terminal.

State-of-the-art marine cement terminals
1997 IEEE/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference. XXXIX Conference Record (Cat. No.97CH36076), 2002A unique marine cement import terminal has recently been taken into operation in Singapore. The terminal introduces a new cement import concept to the industry. The large, state-of-the-art terminal is owned by the Port and used by many independent cement companies. The design of the terminal is further described in this paper.

Reinforcement learning without an explicit terminal state
1998 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Networks Proceedings. IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (Cat. No.98CH36227), 2002Introduces a reinforcement learning framework based on dynamic programming for a class of control problems, where no explicit terminal state exists. This situation especially occurs in the context of technical process control: the control task is not terminated once a predefined target value is reached, but instead the controller has to continue to ...
