Since the 1950s, engineers have paid much attention to the study of complex, dynamic systems. Their successes inspired biologists to apply similar techniques in their disciplines. The approach is characterized by the terms: system, model and simulation.

Selective Membrane for Non‐Aqueous Electrochemical Flow Cells
Sulfonated fixed charge functionalization is increased to improve the conductivity of a cation exchange membrane in a non‐aqueous electrochemical cell. Based on ex situ analyses, the material achieved the highest selectivity for this type of system to date.

Internally catalyzed siloxane dynamic chemistry is demonstrated resulting from amides covalently linked through alkyl chains to siloxanes. The alkyl length in the siloxane‐containing monomer tunes the network cross‐link density. Siloxane exchange dynamics are faster with increasing cross‐link density, because associative exchange is second order in ...

Some Thoughts on Terminology and Discipline in Design [PDF]
In this speculative paper, I will argue that the design community should attempt to develop a “dictionary” of the language of design, along the same lines as the Oxford English Dictionary was and is developed: as a catalogue of the living use of terms ...
