A Map of the Inorganic Ternary Metal Nitrides [PDF]
Exploratory synthesis in novel chemical spaces is the essence of solid-state chemistry. However, uncharted chemical spaces can be difficult to navigate, especially when materials synthesis is challenging.

Structural classification of quasi-one-dimensional ternary nitrides [PDF]
This review focuses on the crystal structural features of ternary (mixed-metal) quasi-one-dimensional nitrides i.e., nitrides containing (cation-³⁻) coordination polyhedra sharing either corners, edges, or faces, arranged in linear chains, and ...

Two-Step Solid-State Synthesis of Ternary Nitride Materials. [PDF]
Ternary nitride materials hold promise for many optical, electronic, and refractory applications yet their preparation via solid-state synthesis remains challenging. Often, high pressures or reactive gasses are used to manipulate the effective chemical potential of nitrogen, yet these strategies require specialized equipment. Here we report on a simple

Ordering in ternary nitride semiconducting alloys [PDF]
We present a thorough theoretical study of ordering phenomena in nitride ternary alloys GaInN, AlInN, and AlGaN. Using the Monte Carlo approach and energetics based on the Keating model we analyze the influence of various factors on ordering in bulk crystals and epitaxial layers.

Pressure-induced disordering of site occupation in iron–nickel nitrides
Controlled disordering of substitutional and interstitial site occupation at high pressure can lead to important changes in the structural and physical properties of iron–nickel nitrides.

Novel Nitride Materials Synthesized at High Pressure
Nitride materials including conventional manmade superhard light-element nitrides, such as cubic boron nitride (cBN), cubic silicon nitride (γ-Si3N4), and carbonitrides, have been extensively used for machining (e.g., turning, cutting, grinding, boring ...

Solid-State Chemistry with Nonmetal Nitrides [PDF]
Among the nonmetal nitrides, the polymeric binary compounds BN and Si3N4are of particular interest for the development of materials for high-performance applications. The outstanding features of both substances are their thermal, mechanical, and chemical

Spatial Inhomogeneity of Luminescence in III-Nitride Compounds
The band gap of III-nitride semiconductors cover a wide range from 0.77 eV (band gap of InN) to 6.2 eV (AlN). Thus, light-emitting diodes emitting from infrared to deep into ultraviolet can be fabricated using ternary III-nitrides InGaN, AlGaN,
