Ternary operation of the plasma display cell

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1973
The plasma display cell, in the normal mode, operates as a bistable ON-OFF element. Under certain conditions, by applying the appropriate sustaining signal, the cell can be maintained in one of several possible ON states that can be distinguished from each other by the light or current output of each state.

Doubly co-operative ternary sequences

IEE Proceedings F Communications, Radar and Signal Processing, 1986
Design procedures for constructing complementary binary sequences and co-operative binary sequences are available in the literature. In the paper an algorithm for constructing pairs of ternary sequences which are co-operative not only in the autocorrelation domain but also in the signal domain (and hence called `doubly? co-operative) is presented.

Generation of assembly sequences with ternary operations

Proceedings. IEEE International Symposium on Assembly and Task Planning, 2002
This paper describes a method for the generation of assembly sequences with ternary operations. While most assembly sequences planners deal with sequences where the operations mate two parts, we propose a method that generate sequences with ternary operations, that assemble simultaneously three parts.

High-performance ternary operators for scrambling

Integration, 2017
Abstract This paper presents two new ternary operators which can be used in different scrambling crypto algorithms. The employment of the proposed operators ( ScramOp1 and ScramOp2 ) leads to reduction in the number of decoding steps, equivalent to only one operation per digit for the receiver side.

Operation of ternary chorded keys

International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, 1993
Operation of the ternary chord keyboard (TCK) requires fast and finely controlled force and displacement by the fingertips in a horizontal plane—that is, rocking instead of the familiar tapping of keys. Associated human motoric abilities relate to finger movement directions, force capabilities, and responses to displayed stimuli.

Ternary cyclic redundancy check by a new hardware-friendly ternary operator

Microelectronics Journal, 2016
This paper presents a new ternary operator for cyclic redundancy check in ternary logic with high hardware efficiency. It shows the essential properties of a ternary operator for calculating CRC. Gate-level implementation of CRC-16 is exemplified and comprehensively explained in this paper.

CHARACTERIZATION OF TERNARY ALGEBRAIC OPERATIONS OF IDEMPOTENT ALGEBRAS

International Journal of Algebra and Computation, 2010
In this paper, we characterize the set of all ternary algebraic (or polynomial) operations of idempotent algebras that have at least one binary and one ternary algebraic operation depending on every variable, and there exists an integer r > 2 such that there is not any r-ary algebraic operation depending on every variable.

Operation limits in RTD-based ternary quantizers

Proceedings of the 17th ACM Great Lakes symposium on VLSI, 2007
Multiple-valued Logic (MVL) circuits are one of the most attractive applications of the Monostable-to-Multistable transition Logic (MML), and they are on the basis of advanced circuits for communications. However, a proper design is not inherent to the usual MML circuit topologies.

Ternary Conditional Operator

2014
You use the ternary conditional operator to evaluate a question and then do one of two things based on the result of the question. The ternary conditional operator is written like this: question ? action1 : action2 (see Listing 16-1).

Invited paper An investigation into ternary comparison operators

International Journal of Electronics, 1988
This paper considers the use of comparison operators for multipled-value logic, these operators having first being proposed by Wu and Chen (1985). In particular we here discuss the definitions and algebraic relationships of these operators applied to the ternary case, and propose transistor circuit realizations which have a commonality with ...
