Extrem states, operator spaces and ternary rings of operators

open access: yes3C TIC: Cuadernos de desarrollo aplicados a las TIC, 2022
In this survey article on extreme states of operator spaces in C¡-algebras and related ternary ring of operators an extension result for rectangular operator extreme states on operator spaces in ternary rings of operators is discussed. We also observe that in the spacial case of operator spaces in rectangular matrix spaces, rectangular extreme states ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Controlled Memristic Behavior of Metal-Organic Framework as a Promising Memory Device

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted considerable interests for sensing, electrochemical, and catalytic applications. Most significantly, MOFs with highly accessible sites on their surface have promising potential for applications in high ...

Dynamical Yang-Baxter Maps with an Invariance Condition

open access: yes, 2007
By means of left quasigroups L=(L, .) and ternary systems, we construct dynamical Yang-Baxter maps associated with L, L, and (.) satisfying an invariance condition that the binary operation (.) of the left quasigroup L defines.

Ternary rings of operators arising from inverse semigroups

open access: yesSemigroup Forum, 2022
AbstractWe are interested in properties, especially injectivity (in the sense of category theory), of the ternary rings of operators generated by certain subsets of an inverse semigroup via the regular representation. We determine all subsets of the extended bicyclic semigroup which are closed under the triple product $$xy^*z$$

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Quantum heaps, cops and heapy categories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A heap is a structure with a ternary operation which is intuitively a group with forgotten unit element. Quantum heaps are associative algebras with a ternary cooperation which are to the Hopf algebras what heaps are to groups, and, in particular, the ...
