International Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.This study evaluates the COSMO‐CLM regional climate model over Italy under CMIP6 scenarios. Compared to its driving global model, COSMO‐CLM reduces temperature biases by 50%–75% and better represents precipitation and extremes, adding critical mesoscale detail.

Dry–Hot Compound Events Driving the 2024 Pantanal Wildfires
International Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.Extreme wildfires in the Pantanal in 2024 were driven by a cascade of heatwaves, rainfall deficits and the absence of the annual flood pulse. These conditions dried soils and rivers, enhanced fuel accumulation and enabled early and intense fire outbreaks.

How Well Is Surface Diurnal Temperature Range Represented by Observations at 2‐m Level

Are West African Heat‐Lows Analogous to Dry Tropical Cyclones?
International Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.Heat‐lows qualitatively resemble dry tropical cyclones (TCs), though their underlying physics has yet to be compared. In this study, we show that West African transient heat‐low climatology correlates well with TC potential intensity generalised over land.

Weather Patterns Associated With Coastal Disasters in Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil
International Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.The study identified weather patterns (WPs) associated with coastal disasters between 1998 and 2020 along the Santa Catarina coast, Brazil. Using atmospheric and oceanographic data combined with official disaster records, five WPs were defined, mainly associated with cyclonic and anticyclonic systems linked to extreme wave events.
