Cultivated terraces in Slovenian landscapes [PDF]
Cultivated terraces distinctively mark the landscape and are a result of human adaptation to steep areas. Terraces were studied with regard to their morphometric qualities, ownership structure, and land use at eight pilot sites in various landscape types

Terraced landscapes in Slovakia
This study investigates the distribution of terraced landscapes in Slovakia and analyzes their structural characteristics and land use. We found that traditional farming and terrace building as a part of agricultural intensification resulted in two types

When is a terrace not a terrace? The importance of understanding landscape evolution in studies of terraced agriculture [PDF]
Before the invention of modern, large-scale engineering projects, terrace systems were rarely built in single phases of construction, but instead developed gradually, and could even be said to have evolved. Understanding this process of landscape change is therefore important in order to fully appreciate how terrace systems were built and functioned ...

An Extension Theorem for Terraces [PDF]
We generalise an extension theorem for terraces for abelian groups to apply to non-abelian groups with a central subgroup isomorphic to the Klein 4-group $V$. We also give terraces for three of the non-abelian groups of order a multiple of 8 that have a cyclic subgroup of index 2 that may be used in the extension theorem.

Some zn-1 terraces from zn power-sequences, n being an odd prime power [PDF]
A terrace for Zm is a particular type of sequence formed from the m elements of Zm. For m odd, many procedures are available for constructing power-sequence terraces for Zm; each terrace of this sort may be partitioned into segments, of which one ...

MR. A. G. VERNON HARCOURT has just shown me, in his boat-house at Cowley Grange, a specimen of swallow's architecture unlike anything I have seen or heard of. The nest, which is itself normal, is placed at the end of a small beam extending from the top of the door to the angle of the building.

Pleistocene terraces in the Hochrhein area : formation, age constraints and neotectonic implications [PDF]
Pleistocene fluvial gravel terraces appear to be useful to decipher neotectonic movements. To achieve this, however, chronologic and sedimentologic data on the terraces are required. Thus, this thesis represents a multidisciplinary approach.
