Analysis and validation of CFD wind farm models in complex terrain. Effects induced by topography and wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Wind farms have been extensively simulated through engineering models for the estimation of wind speed and power deficits inside wind farms. These models were designed initially for a few wind turbines located in flat terrain.

Hierarchical Strain‐Modified Medium‐Entropy Carbide Ceramics Exhibit Exceptional Ablation Resistance up to 2400°C

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel strategy is developed by doping reduced graphene oxide (rGO) into a (HfZrTi)C medium‐entropy ceramic. This induces a hierarchical strain modification mechanism, synergistically inhibiting crack propagation at the microscale and dissipating stress at the mesoscale.

Piezo‐Phototronic PVDF/HfO2/Nano‐Cu Heterostructured Thin Film for Flexible Self‐Powered Multimodal Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrospinning a composite of PVDF, HfO2, and nano‐Cu transforms the discrete precursors into a continuous nanofiber mesh, forming a multi‐interface heterostructure with embedded nanoparticles. The presence of HfO2 and nano‐Cu at the fiber interfaces induces a highly aligned β‐phase, which enhances piezoelectric crystallinity and improves the material'

Journal Staff [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The aim of this study was to map and date glacial flutings with ice flows deviating from the predominating northwesterly ice flow direction in the southern part of Norrbotten County in northern Sweden, and also to investigate if parts of the glacial ...

Feline‐Inspired Robot Enabled by Combustion‐Driven Actuators for Agile Motion and High‐Payload Obstacle Traversal

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by nature's competitive maneuvers, this study introduces a combustion‐driven soft actuator that powers a multi‐modal “Jump‐and‐Fly Catbot” (JFC). With millisecond response, high‐force output (over 70 times its weight) and precise control (error within 5%), the robot can jump, fly, hover, and escape from challenging environments, achieving ...

Tough and Temperature‐Resistant Material Based on Bombyx mori Silk Fibroin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose a biomimetic “Hydration‐Crystallization Locking” (HCL) strategy inspired by Bombyx mori spinning to enhance silk fibroin (SF) performance in extreme temperatures. A flexible fibroin membrane (FFM) shows high strength, toughness, and shape retention under −196°C and 70°C.
