Effects of NaHCO3 Alkalinity Stress on Micropterus salmoides

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT To provide guidance for the actual cultivation of Micropterus salmoides in saline alkali environment, the effects of NaHCO3 alkalinity stress on enzymatic activity, tissue structure and gut microbiota were investigated. The experimental groups consisted of Group 1 (no NaHCO3 added), Group 2 (10 mmol/L NaHCO3 alkalinity) and Group 3 (30 mmol/L ...

The use of biomarkers to evaluate the toxicity of metaldehyde and methiocarb baits to the terrestrial isopod porcellionides pruinosus Brandt, 1833 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Biochemical indicators (biomarkers) are known to provide early warning signs of environmental pollution or stress conditions to the organisms, by measuring cellular or molecular responses of the target organism to xenobiotic agents. In this study, the

Diverging Food Web Functioning Around Southampton Island, Nunavut: The Influence of Primary Production Supply and Bathymetry

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Southampton Island hosts two distinct benthic sub‐webs, north and south. North is deeper, phytoplankton‐driven; South is shallower, more ice‐algae driven. North benthos: bottom‐up control, four trophic levels including apex predators. South benthos: walrus top‐down control, trophic truncation to three levels.
