Origin of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2003With recent improvements in space geodesy, the Earth's center of mass (CM) and center of figure (CF) are no longer indistinguishable. The current origin of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) is defined as the CM, which shows measured seasonal variations of several millimeters to 1 cm with respect to true CM.

VLBI terrestrial reference frame contributions to ITRF2008
Journal of Geodesy, 2009In late 2008, the Product Center for the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) issued a call for contributions to the next realization of the International Terrestrial Reference System, ITRF2008.

A sequential estimation approach to terrestrial reference frame determination
Advances in Space Research, 2020Abstract We review the main concepts underlying the determination of terrestrial reference frames (TRFs) through a recursive algorithm based on Kalman Filtering and Rauch-Tung-Striebel (RTS) smoothing which is currently adopted at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to compute sub-secular frame products (JTRFs).
