Thermo-kinetic instabilities in model reactors. Examples in experimental tests

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
The use of advanced combustion technologies (such as MILD, LTC, etc.) is among the most promising methods to reduce emission of pollutants. For such technologies, working temperatures are enough low to boost the formation of several classes of pollutants, such as NOx and soot.

Validity of experimental tests for chain reactions in batch reactors

The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1972
Abstract Gas phase chain reactions are investigated for radiolytic and photochemical batch reactors. The steady state treatment leads to a nonlinear equation of continuity when there is competition between volume termination and wall termination of the chain carriers.

An Experimental Test of Slugging-Bed Reactor Models

1980
Experiments on the catalytic oxidation of o-xylene have been carried out using a slugging-bed reactor. The results were compared with the predictions of two theoretical models and it was found that the model of Raghuraman and Potter gave the better agreement, provided allowance was made for reaction in the region immediately above the distributor.

Improvement of Reactor Dosimetry for Irradiation Tests in the Experimental Fast Reactor JOYO

2001
Reactor dosimetry by the foil activation method and three dimensional diffusion or two dimensional transport calculation have been performed to characterize the neutron field of JOYO. In order to improve the accuracy of the neutron flux calculation for each irradiation test, the JOYO core management code system will be upgraded.

Design, Simulation, and Experimental Testing of a Spatially Controllable CVD Reactor

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2004
Abstract Most conventional chemical vapor deposition systems do not have the spatial actuation and sensing capabilities necessary to control deposition uniformity, or to intentionally induce nonuniform deposition patterns for single-wafer combinatorial CVD experiments.

Tests in an MR reactor of experimental fuel elements of the VVR-1000 reactor

Soviet Atomic Energy, 1987
In an MR reactor performance tests of 16 fuel assemblies, with elements having essentially the same structure as standard VVER-100 fuel elements, were carried out. Tests of five more fuel assemblies are continuing. Of the 16 assemblies, 13 were studied in a hot laboratory.

Numerical Simulation and Experimental Testing of Novel Sonochemical Reactor for Transesterification

Waste and Biomass Valorization, 2017
Biodiesel is a powerful alternate fuel that has one of the best feedstock in the form of waste cooking oil (WCO). Producing biodiesel from WCO solves two major environmental and waste related issues. Firstly, biodiesel substantially reduces CO2 and Sulphur emissions and is capable of directly replacing petro-diesel in vehicles.

Fuzzy control of a PMMA batch reactor: Development and experimental testing

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2005
Abstract The present work is concerned with the design and experimental testing of a fuzzy control algorithm for temperature control of a methyl methacrylate (MMA) batch polymerization reactor. Ethyl acetate is used as solvent and benzoyl peroxide is the reaction initiator.

Analysis of Counterpart Tests Performed in Boiling Water Reactor Experimental Simulators

Nuclear Technology, 1992
In this paper the main results obtained at the University of Pisa on small-break loss-of-coolant accident counterpart experiments carried out in boiling water reactor (BWR) experimental simulators are summarized. In particular, the results of similar experiments performed in the PIPER-ONE, Full Integral Simulation Test (FIST), and ROSA-III facilities ...
