Influence of oxide films on primary water stress corrosion cracking initiation of alloy 600 [PDF]
In the present study alloy 600 was tested in simulated pressurised water reactor (PWR) primary water, at 360 °C, under an hydrogen partial pressure of 30 kPa. These testing conditions correspond to the maximum sensitivity of alloy 600 to crack initiation.

ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...

ESTIMATIONS OF HEAT CAPACITIES FOR ACTINIDE DIOXIDE: UO2, NpO2, ThO2, AND PuO2
The evaluation of thermal properties of actinide oxide fuels is a problem of high importance for the development of new generation reactors. In the present study, an expression obtained for n-dimensional Debye functions is used to derive a simple ...

Low pH, high salinity: too much for Microbial Fuel Cells?
Twelve single chambered, air-cathode Tubular Microbial Fuel Cells (TMFCs) have been filled up with fruit and vegetable residues. The anodes were realized by means of a carbon fiber brush, while the cathodes were realized through a graphite-based porous ...

Investigations in an external-loop airlift photobioreactor with annular light chambers and swirling flow [PDF]
Photosynthetic microorganisms could serve as valuable compounds, but also for environmental applications. Their production under controlled conditions implies to design specific reactors, named photobioreactors, in which light supply is the main ...

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Core restraint analysis for 75MW power ascension tests of experimental fast reactor "JOYO". [PDF]
In the “JOYO” initial power ascension tests to 75 MW, unexpected large negative power coefficients were observed during ascension to new power levels beyond 50 MW, which results in approximately a 40¢ permanent loss in reactivity. This anomaly was studied from the viewpoint of radial dimensional change in the core using a three-dimensional structural ...
