Hormonal Influence on Testicular Lipids
Hormone Research, 1975The effects of progesterone and progesterone plus oestrogen (PPO) on testicular lipids of adult rats were studied. Treatment with progesterone over 7 days did not alter significantly the total lipids, cholesterol, glycerides and phospholipids. However, PPO administration brought about a significant elevation in total lipids, mainly contributed by the ...

Late hormonal function after testicular torsion
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2010Testicular torsion may be an important cause of male infertility. We aimed to investigate the late hormonal function in patients with testicular ischemia/reperfusion injury of the testis after orchidectomy or detorsion.Twenty patients (mean age, 13.6 years) were prospectively evaluated at a mean of 5 years after testicular torsion.

Testicular Cancer and Hormonally Active Agents∗
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part B, 2008Testicular cancer (TC) is a rare form of cancer, accounting for 1% of all new cancer cases in Canadian males. TC is the most common malignancy among young men, aged 25-34 yr old. Over previous decades, the incidence of TC has increased in many Western countries. Countries with a sufficiently long period of cancer registration, such as Denmark, document

The Hormonal Control of Testicular Descent
Endocrine Reviews, 1986IT HAS BEEN assumed for the last 50 yr that testicular descent is under hormonal control. The exact mechanism has remained unknown, although the general belief in recent years has been that descent is mediated by androgens. Postnatal rodents have provided a convenient model, since descent is incomplete at birth and can be influenced by both exogenous ...

Hormonal Control of Rat Testicular Phospholipids
Endocrinology, 1967The percentage of total lipids, specifically the nonphosphatides, of the rat testis was observed to increase gradually after hypophysectomy. LH or FSH+LH, injected biweekly starting one day after surgery and continued for 20 days, maintained the concentration of the nonphosphatides in the total lipid at a normal value.

The Hormonal Control of Testicular Descent
Journal of Andrology, 1995Descent of the testes is a complex event mediated by hormonal and mechanical factors. At present we hypothesize that testicular descent occurs as the result of the secretion of descendin from a normal testicle. Descendin secretion results in selective growth of the gubernacular cells.

Hormonal Regulation of Testicular Luteinizing Hormone and Prolactin Receptors
Endocrinology, 1981The effects of gonadotropic stimulation on testicular LH and PRL receptors were examined in the absence and presence of elevated serum PRL levels. In adult male rats, the administration of ovine LH (oLH) caused an increase in both PRL and LH receptors within 40–120 min.
