The cerebellum in epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract The cerebellum, a subcortical structure, is traditionally linked to sensorimotor integration and coordination, although its role in cognition and affective behavior, as well as epilepsy, is increasingly recognized. Cerebellar dysfunction in patients with epilepsy can result from genetic disorders, antiseizure medications, seizures, and seizure‐

piRNA processing within non‐membrane structures is governed by constituent proteins and their functional motifs

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The silencing of transposable elements is mediated by piRNAs through post‐transcriptional and transcriptional regulation. In Drosophila, piRNAs are processed within unique non‐membrane structures: nuage in germline cells and Yb bodies in somatic gonadal cells.

Intercellular mitochondrial transfer contributes to microenvironmental redirection of cancer cell fate

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The mammary microenvironment has been shown to suppress tumor progression by redirecting cancer cells to adopt a normal mammary epithelial progenitor fate in vivo. Here, we test the hypothesis that mitochondrial transfer from mammary epithelial cells to breast cancer cells plays a role in this redirection process.

Y12C mutation disrupts IMPDH cytoophidia and alters cancer metabolism

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
IMPDH, the rate‐limiting enzyme for de novo GTP synthesis, can form polymers and cytoophidia to enhance activity by reducing GTP inhibition. In this study, a Y12C mutation in IMPDH2 was introduced via ABEmax base‐editing in human cancer cell lines to disrupt IMPDH polymerisation.
