Portulaca oleracea Extract Ameliorates Testosterone Propionate-Induced Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia in Male Sprague-Dawley Rats. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
Portulaca oleracea (PO) ameliorates BPH by inhibiting AR and SRD5A2 in the testosterone propionate‐induced BPH rat model. ABSTRACT Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a distressing health problem that can cause serious complications in aging men. Androgens are implicated in the causation of BPH.

Steroid-Induced Cardiomyopathy: Insights From a Systematic Literature Review and a Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT Anabolic‐androgenic steroids (AAS) abuse is associated with severe cardiovascular risks, particularly AAS‐induced cardiomyopathy. This systematic review highlights that most cases show left ventricular dilation and reduced ejection fraction.

Low-fat diets and testosterone in men: Systematic review and meta-analysis of intervention studies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of steroid biochemistry and molecular biology (2021) 210: 105878, 2022
Background: Higher endogenous testosterone levels are associated with reduced chronic disease risk and mortality. Since the mid-20th century, there have been significant changes in dietary patterns, and men's testosterone levels have declined in western countries.

Stability and detectability of testosterone esters in dried blood spots after intramuscular injections

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 14, Issue 11-12, Page 1926-1937, November-December 2022., 2022
We further developed the Dried Blood Spot (DBS) methodology for detection of four testosterone esters with focus on robustness and applicability in doping control. The study consisted of two parts: method development and validation, and a human administration study with intramuscular injections of 250 mg Sustanon® in healthy men.

Structural optimization of biohydrogen production: Impact of pretreatments on volatile fatty acids and biogas parameters [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Hydrogen Energ. 47(11): 7072-81, 2022, 2021
The present study aims to describe an innovative approach that enables the system to achieve high yielding for biohydrogen (bio-H$_2$) production using xylose as a by-product of lignocellulosic biomass processing. A hybrid optimization technique, structural modelling, desirability analysis, and genetic algorithm could determine the optimum input ...
