Modulation of the cytosolic androgen receptor in striated muscle by sex steroids [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of orchiectomy (GDX) and steroid administration on the level of the cytosolic androgen receptor in the rat levator ani muscle and in rat skeletal muscles (tibialis anterior and extensor digitorum longus) was studied.

Single‐Cell Sequencing Reveals That CD4+ T Cells Eliminate Senescent Prostate Epithelium to Delay Progression of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 10, October 2025.
Senescent BPH epithelial cells secrete CXCL13 to recruit CD4+ T cells via CXCR5. Cytotoxic CD4+ T cells eliminate senescent cells through MHC‐II–dependent recognition. Tregs suppress, while B cells show minimal effect. This immune axis modulates senescent cell clearance and may influence BPH progression.

In vivo assessment of the anti-benign prostatic hyperplasia effect of hot ethanolic extract of flax seeds in male rats

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal
Background: The most widespread conditions that affected on primarily male population is Benign hyperplasia of the prostate BPH. Flax seeds has been reported to antiproliferation properties and exhibit antitumor.

The Interplay between the Gut and Ketogenic Diets in Health and Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 36, September 25, 2025.
This review synthesizes current knowledge on the interaction between ketogenic diets and the gut, covering gut physiology, intestinal immunity, and the gut microbiome. It explores innovative methods for tailoring the diet to maximize benefits while reducing side effects. Emphasis is placed on gut‐mediated mechanisms as a critical interface between diet

Testosterone and androstenedione concentrations in human testis and epididymis during the first two years of life [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Testosterone and androstenedione were measured in testicular and epididymal tissue of 37 previously healthy infants between 1 and 24 months of age who died suddenly. In half of the patients elevated plasma levels of cortisol and androstenedione suggested

Revolutionizing Veterinary Medicine: The Role of Nanoparticles in Advancing Animal Health, Nutrition and Disease Management

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2025.
Nanoparticles are transforming animal care by enhancing nutrition, drug delivery and disease prevention. This study highlights their role in improving nutrient absorption in livestock, facilitating targeted drug delivery and boosting vaccine efficacy. Additionally, nanoparticles effectively reduce harmful mycotoxins in animal feeds, promoting overall ...

Morphological changes induced by testosterone in the mammary glands of female Wistar rats

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2005
Increased levels of androgens in postmenopausal women are considered to be a risk factor for breast cancer. Testosterone, alone or in combination with estrogen, induces epithelial dysplasia and mammary tumors in Noble rats.

Sex steroids do not affect muscle weight, oxidative metabolism or cytosolic androgen reception binding of functionally overloaded rat Plantaris muscles [PDF]

open access: yes
The effects of sex steroids on muscle weight and oxidative capacity of rat planaris muscles subjected to functional overload by removal of synergistic muscles were investigated.

Dihydrotestosterone stimulates amino acid uptake and the expression of LAT2 in mouse skeletal muscle fibres through an ERK1/2-dependent mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) has acute/non-genomic actions in adult mammalian skeletal muscles whose physiological functions are still poorly understood.
