Annona muricata Aqueous Extract Ameliorates Testicular and Epididymal Sperm Toxicity in Rats Exposed to Gasoline Fumes

open access: yesAndrologia, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In the present study, aqueous leaf extract of Annona muricata was assessed for its capacity to mitigate testicular damages and sperm toxicity induced by gasoline fumes. Thirty‐two male Wistar rats were randomized into four groups of eight animals per group: the control group was given distilled water, and the PEBI group was exposed to petrol by ...

The ability of fruit and vegetable enzyme system to hydrolyse ester bonds

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
The pulp of potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum), topinambur (Helianthus tuberosus) and apples (Malus silvestris) can hydrolyse totally, or almost totally, ester bonds in phenyl, α- and β-naphthyl, benzyl and cinnamyl acetates.

Dietary DHA Regulated the Androgen Production in Male Chinese Tongue Sole Cynoglossus semilaevis

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC‐PUFA) play key roles in sex steroid hormone synthesis in fish. Regarding docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), currently the regulating effects were mostly evaluated in female fish rather than males. This study aimed to investigate the DHA effects on the sex steroid hormone production in male Chinese tongue sole.

A three-phase chemical model of hot cores: the formation of glycine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new chemical model is presented that simulates fully-coupled gas-phase, grain-surface and bulk-ice chemistry in hot cores. Glycine (NH2CH2COOH), the simplest amino acid, and related molecules such as glycinal, propionic acid and propanal, are included in the chemical network.

Assessing the Safety of Combined Therapy, Croton membranaceus and Tamsulosin, in the Self‐Prescribed Treatment Protocol for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

open access: yesJournal of Toxicology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: The safety of combining tamsulosin (an allopathic drug) and Croton membranaceus aqueous extract, a medicinal plant for managing benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), was investigated. Methods: The roots of CM were used and processed into a water extract by maceration and decoction.

Local and global analysis of endocrine regulation as a non-cyclic feedback system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To understand the sophisticated control mechanisms of the human's endocrine system is a challenging task that is a crucial step towards precise medical treatment of many disfunctions and diseases. Although mathematical models describing the endocrine system as a whole are still elusive, recently some substantial progress has been made in analyzing ...

Treatment of constitutional delayed puberty with a combination of testosterone esters

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 1993
Thirteen boys with constitutional delayed puberty (CDP) were treated with a combination of short and long-acting testosterone esters (testosterone propionate, testosterone phenylpropionate, testosterone isocaproate).

Theoretical frameworks for neuroeconomics of intertemporal choice [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, Psychology, and Economics, Vol 2(2), Nov 2009, 75-90, 2011
Intertemporal choice has drawn attention in behavioral economics, econophysics, and neuroeconomics. Recent studies in mainstream economics have mainly focused on inconsistency in intertemporal choice (dynamic inconsistency); while impulsivity/impatience in intertemporal choice has been extensively studied in behavioral economics of addiction.

Prenatal testosterone-induced fetal growth restriction is associated with down-regulation of rat placental amino acid transport

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2011
Background Exposure of pregnant mothers to elevated concentrations of circulating testosterone levels is associated with fetal growth restriction and delivery of small-for-gestational-age babies.

Partition test and sexual motivation in male mice [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Theoretical analysis of own and literature investigations of sexual motivation with the use of the partition test [Kudryavtseva, 1987, 1994] in male mice was carried out. It has been shown that appearance of a receptive female in the neighboring compartment of common cage separated by perforated transparent partition produces the enhancement of ...
