Syntheses of tetrahydronaphthalenes. Part II
Tetrahedron, 1994Abstract Syntheses utilizing the cyclodehydration method to prepare novel tetrahydronaphthalenes substituted with functional groups at each position of the aromatic ring and various alkyl groups at the 1-position of the non-aromatic ring are described.

Directed, DDQ-Promoted Benzylic Oxygenations of Tetrahydronaphthalenes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1999Positional preferences for para benzylic oxygenation of tetrahydronaphthalenes by 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ)-aqueous dioxane were investigated by comparing the tetralone products from 6-hydroxy-7-methoxy- and 6-acetoxy-7-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene.

Selective β-adrenoceptor activities of tetrahydronaphthalene derivatives
Life Sciences, 1975Abstract Alpha - and beta -adrenoceptor activities of a group of tetralin derivatives prepared as fixed analogs of isoproterenol, adrenaline and noradrenaline were evaluated in vitro assays. All of the present compounds showed strong direct β-stimulating activity fairly selective for tracheal muscle.

FORMULA OF TETRAHYDRONAPHTHALENE ("TETRALIN")
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1923To the Editor: —In the editorial on the Wassermann tuberculosis reaction (The Journal, May 19, p. 1456), "tetralin" is stated to be "a naphthalene with four molecules of water of hydration." "Tetralin," or tetrahydronaphthalene, is produced by the hydrogenation of naphthalene; that is, it is made by the catalytic reduction of naphthalene.
