Metabolite Profiling and Anticancer Evaluation of Iraqi Haloxylon articulatum Halophyte via LC–HRMS/MS, Molecular Docking, and ADMET Analysis

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study investigates the phytochemical composition and biological activities of a hydroalcoholic extract of Haloxylon articulatum. LC‐HRMS/MS identified diverse bioactive compounds, notably N‐caffeoyltyramine and sinapoyltyramine. The extract exhibited strong antioxidant activity and significant cytotoxic effects against gastric cancer cell lines ...

Protist predation can favour cooperation within bacterial species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Here, we studied how protist predation affects cooperation in the opportunistic pathogen bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which uses quorum sensing (QS) cell-to-cell signalling to regulate the production of public goods.

Chemical Fingerprinting of Spiranthes spiralis L. Methanol Seed Extract: Spectroscopic, Chromatographic, and Computational Approaches

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Spiranthes spiralis L. seed methanol extract was morphologically and chemically characterized using microscopy, FT‐IR, GC–MS, and in silico analyses. The extract exhibited high phenolic content and strong DPPH radical scavenging activity, while GC–MS identified 22 bioactive compounds with notable binding affinity toward the GPR52 receptor.

Wall Drag on Free-Moving Ciliated Micro-Organisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
It is generally assumed that wall drag on free-moving, self-propelled or passively moving micro-organisms is not significant under normal observation conditions. Yet the point at which such drag becomes significant has not been determined quantitatively.

Targeting the TRIM28–EZH2 Protein–Protein Interface With Cysteine‐Reactive Covalent Inhibitors: A Computational Blueprint for Cancer Therapy

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
Graphical overview of the computational strategy employed to disrupt the oncogenic TRIM28EZH2 proteinprotein interaction. The workflow illustrates proteinprotein docking to define the interaction interface, cysteine‐focused covalent virtual screening targeting EZH2 Cys144, covalent docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and MM‐GBSA binding free ...

Activity of 6-aryl-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4-amines to Tetrahymena [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A series 6-aryl-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4-amines (43 compounds), some of which are epidermal growth 22 factor tyrosine kinase inhibitors, were tested for their protozoal toxicity using an environmental Tetrahy- 23 mena strain as model organism.

RIBOSOME SYNTHESIS IN TETRAHYMENA PYRIFORMIS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1970
The cellular site of synthesis of ribosomal RNA in Tetrahymena pyriformis was studied by analyzing the purified nuclear and cytoplasmic RNA from cells pulse labeled with uridine-3H. The results of studies using zonal centrifugation in sucrose density gradients show that the ribosomal RNA is synthesized in the nucleus as a large precursor molecule ...

Determination of the Lethal Concentrations of Two Phenolic Acid Derivatives Originated From the Edible Red Marine Macroalga (Bangia fuscopurpurea) Using the In Vivo Zebrafish Eleutheroembryo Model and Their In Silico Structure–Toxicity Relationship Study

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study compared the predicted and experimental toxicity of two phenolic acid derivatives (HBP2 and HBP3) from the edible macroalga Bangia fuscopurpurea. HBP2 exhibited greater in vivo safety and lower predicted toxicity risks in silico, whereas HBP3 displayed higher in vitro cytotoxicity in IMR‐32 cells, potentially associated with the ...
